WEST KINGSTON, R.I., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Power
Conversion (Nasdaq: APCC) (APC) today announced that EMC Corporation will
offer several APC rack enclosure systems through the EMC Select Program. The
EMC Select Program helps customers acquire EMC-qualified components to more
easily implement information lifecycle management (ILM) solutions.

Through APC's participation in the EMC Select Program, EMC customers can
easily identify and procure APC's multi-vendor compatible and EIA (Electronic
Industries Association) compliant rack solutions through EMC. The offering
includes models from APC's NetShelter(R) VX family populated with rack power
distribution units and advanced cable management. These enclosure systems
offer a vendor-neutral environment for deploying high-density, rack-based
information technology (IT) equipment used to accomplish ILM objectives.
Additionally, the APC enclosure systems available through the EMC Select
Program are InfraStruXure(TM)-certified for use with APC's innovative on-
demand architecture for network-critical physical infrastructure (NCPI). The
InfraStruXure design, which integrates power, cooling, rack, management and
services, allows the selection of standardized components to create a solution
through modular and mobile configurations and is available for any IT
environment, from wiring closets to large data centers.
"Today's IT projects, including server and storage consolidation as well
as the implementation of high-density computing, require a solid and adaptable
foundation," said Ed Bednarcik, APC's vice president of global sales.
"Through APC's participation in the EMC Select Program, EMC customers can
easily configure and deploy IT equipment in a flexible vendor-neutral rack
environment. We are excited about our participation in the EMC Select Program
and the opportunity it presents to collaborate with EMC and its customers."
"The EMC Select Program strives to simplify our customers' end-to-end
storage infrastructure needs, and the addition of industry-leading enclosure
systems from APC is a great fit in a product category requested by our
customers," explained Tom Joyce, EMC's vice president of storage platforms
marketing. "An effective storage infrastructure must be built from the
foundation up. The APC systems are a key part of that infrastructure and will
help our customers accomplish their performance and management objectives."
"Over the last year, we worked extensively with APC and EMC in the
deployment of a highly-available, scalable storage area network (SAN)," said
Tom Cesso, chief information officer of First Marblehead. "EMC's storage
portfolio allowed us to increase our efficiency and lower our overall total
cost of ownership. Similarly, APC's InfraStruXure solution increases our
speed of deployment and provides a robust and flexible physical infrastructure
supporting the EMC SAN while enabling future expansion and high-density
support. When you couple the complexity and significance of a storage area
network with the high availability NCPI requirements of the system, it is
clear you need to work with experts in these areas. Both APC and EMC met this
requirement for our project."
APC rack systems are available immediately worldwide through the EMC
Select Program.
