Echo Bay Announces the Appointment of Tom Yip as Chief Financial Officer
 
    ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Echo Bay Mines Ltd.
(Amex: ECO; Toronto) today announced the appointment of Tom S. Q. Yip as Vice
President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer.  Tom has been with Echo Bay
since 1983, most recently in the capacity of Vice President and Controller.
Tom is a Canadian Chartered Accountant and prior to joining Echo Bay was
associated with one of the major accounting firms.  Tom succeeds Peter
Cheesbrough, who has left the company.
    Echo Bay mines gold and silver in North America.  The primary markets for
its shares are the American and Toronto stock exchanges.
