the growth of our Company. We will look to the members of our Scientific
Advisory Board to provide our scientists with additional expertise and counsel
to support the development of our flagship drug, Product R," said Shalom Z.
Hirschman, M.D., President and CEO of Advanced Viral Research Corp. "As we
prepare to undertake the scientifically rigorous clinical trials necessary to
successfully complete FDA's regulatory approval process, the Scientific
Advisory Board's expertise will be invaluable. We believe the Scientific
Advisory Board will help us to effectively bring our product to the forefront
of the biotechnology arena by advising us in researching the rich chemistry
and pharmacology of peptide-nucleic acids represented by Product R."
Dr. George P. Canellos is the William Rosenberg Professor of Medicine at
Harvard Medical School where he served as Chief of the Division of Medical
Oncology for 20 years at the renowned Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dr.
Canellos brings a wealth of knowledge to the Company through his previous
experience as Acting Clinical Director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)
and his role as a member of the FDA's Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee. Dr.

Oncology and a former Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Peter Lunder Joins Business Advisory Board
Advanced Viral Research Corp. also announced that it has expanded its
Business Advisory Board with the addition of Mr. Peter Lunder. Mr. Lunder is
the former Co-Chairman and Treasurer of the Dexter Shoe Company (now owned by
Berkshire-Hathaway). In addition to his extensive business expertise, Mr.
Lunder has strong philanthropic interests in academic healthcare institutions,
and serves as a Regent of the Smithsonian Museum, the Governing Board Chairman
of Colby College's Museum of Art, and a member of the Dana-Farber Cancer
Institute's Visiting Committee.
"Mr. Lunder's extensive management expertise further broadens the pool of
business management and marketing experience that Advanced Viral can draw upon
as we work toward the commercialization of Product R," said Dr. Hirschman.
"In addition, Mr. Lunder brings strong relationships and philanthropic
interests across a variety of prestigious academic and healthcare institutions
to the Business Advisory Board."
The Business Advisory Board was formed in December 2001 to provide the
Company with expertise in international finance, strategic management and
business opportunities. The Business Advisory Board also includes Albert
Reichmann (co-founder, Olympia and York Developments Limited) and Dr. Jozef
Straus (CEO, JDS Uniphase Corporation).
    Product R is being investigated as a non-toxic peptide-nucleic acid-type
immunomodulator that appears to stimulate the proinflammatory responses
required to combat viral infections such as AIDS and human papilloma virus and
to dampen aberrant autoimmune-type inflammatory responses, such as occur in
patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Therefore, Product R has been termed a
"switch type" immunomodulator. Product R is also being studied for the
promise shown in its ability to mitigate the toxic side effects of other
drugs, including those used to treat HIV infection and chemotherapeutic drugs
employed in the treatment of cancers.
Advanced Viral Research Corp., based in Yonkers, New York, is a
biopharmaceutical firm committed to researching, developing and bringing to
