BALTIMORE, Aug. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Constellation Energy
(NYSE: CEG) mourns the passing of Edward A. Crooke, a member of
Constellation Energy's board of directors and retired vice chairman of both
Constellation Energy and Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE). He was
70 years old.

an advisor and a long-time member of the Constellation Energy and BGE

BGE, as well as a member of the board of directors, Ed was truly
instrumental in Constellation Energy's transformation into the growing,

tremendously from his business and financial acumen, insightful leadership,
integrity and his extensive experience in the energy industry. We will miss
him greatly and extend our deepest sympathy to his wife, Ann, his daughter,
Angie Straub and her husband, David, and his granddaughters, Shannon and
Kristen."
Mr. Crooke, who passed away on Aug. 10, was a member of the board of
directors of Constellation Energy since April 1999 and served as a member
of the board's Executive Committee, Audit Committee and Committee on
Nuclear Power. From 1988 to April 1999, he was a director of BGE.
In December 2001, Mr. Crooke retired as vice chairman of Constellation
Energy and BGE. He joined BGE in 1968 as an associate financial analyst and
subsequently served in progressively responsible leadership positions,
including supervisor-financial planning, vice president-finance &
accounting and corporate secretary, and president and chief operating
officer of BGE. Mr. Crooke was chairman of the board of directors for
Constellation Holdings from 1996 to 1998 and chairman of the board of
directors for Constellation Enterprises, Inc. in 1998.
Mr. Crooke was an active participant in civic and professional
communities. He served as a director of AEGIS Insurance Services, Inc.,
Associated Electric & Gas Insurance Services, Limited and Baltimore
Equitable Society. He also previously served on a number of other boards,
including Allfirst Financial, Allfirst Bank, Corporate Office Properties
Trust and Orion Power Holdings, Inc. Additionally, Mr. Crooke formerly
served on the Goucher College board of trustees, the Baltimore Museum of
Art board of trustees, Kennedy Krieger Institute's board of directors, and
the Archdiocese of Baltimore's Investment Committee and its Partners in
Excellence Program.
A native of Washington, D.C., Mr. Crooke graduated with a bachelor's
degree in economics from the University of Maryland and a master's degree
in business administration with a concentration in finance from Loyola
College. He was a graduate of the Advanced Management Program of the
Harvard Business School and the Executive Management Program of the Edison
Electric Institute. Mr. Crooke was a member of the United States Army
Reserve from 1956 to 1964.
