McAfee to Offer Data Loss Prevention Solution that Learns and Adapts to
Automate the Continuous Protection of Data
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- McAfee, Inc.
(NYSE: MFE) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of
Reconnex for $46 million in cash. Through the acquisition, McAfee(R)
further enhances its leadership position in proactive security and risk
management solutions. McAfee can now bring automated, centrally managed and
adaptive protection to its existing customer base and further help users
enhance the value of their current investments. As previously announced,
Reconnex's technologies will be incorporated under McAfee's Data Protection
product business unit, headed by Gerhard Watzinger.
"This acquisition builds on the McAfee data protection portfolio,
solving one of the biggest challenges customers face; namely what
information to protect and who should have access to it," said Watzinger,
general manager of the Data Protection business unit. "Reconnex's
differentiated approach to data protection and advanced innovative learning
enables McAfee to offer a next-generation data protection solution that is
steps ahead of its competition. And with McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator's
extensive install base, we can address a broader range of threats to data
than anyone else on the market today."
Reconnex is a leading data loss prevention (DLP) company with unique
technology that learns and adapts to automate the ongoing protection of
data. The Reconnex technology helps an organization protect all the
information assets on its network without requiring upfront knowledge of
what needs to be protected, regardless of how that information is stored,
secured or communicated. Reconnex's products align with McAfee's vision to
provide a complete data protection and compliance solution to McAfee's
customers, meeting the significant demand for adaptive data protection.
McAfee anticipates that Reconnex's products will be integrated into
McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator(R) (ePO(TM)) in 2009.
