Detroit Diesel Celebrates 75,000th Diesel Engine for Penske Truck Leasing Corporation

DETROIT, Aug. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) today
celebrated the shipment of its 75,000th Series 60(R) engine to Penske Truck
Leasing (PTL), signifying a major milestone in the relationship between DDC
and PTL.
"This is a tremendous achievement for us at Detroit Diesel given the
extensive history we have with Penske Truck Leasing," said Carsten Reinhardt,
president and chief executive officer of Detroit Diesel Corporation. "It's a
relationship that continues to flourish and we are very proud to be able to
continue to supply the company with engines that provide excellent fuel
economy and great performance."
"Over the last 15 years, Penske and Detroit Diesel have worked together to
deliver quality products and services to our customers," said Brian Hard,
president of Penske Truck Leasing. "We have focused on the products and
support that our customers need to compete effectively in their businesses.
We are proud of our relationship with Detroit Diesel and we look forward to
the next 75,000 engines."
Penske Truck Leasing took delivery of its first Series 60 engine in 1990
with a total order of 47 units. With each passing year, the annual delivery
of engines increased and just recently the number of engines delivered
achieved the 75,000th mark.
"In 2004, PTL took delivery of more than 8,200 Series 60 engines and we
look forward to exceeding that number in 2005," Reinhardt concluded.
Since 1992, the Series 60 engine has been the most popular heavy-duty
truck engine in the Class 8 market based on R.L. Polk registrations. One of
the reasons for the popularity of this engine is its significant fuel economy
savings over other engines in the same class. The Series 60 engine is
available in vehicles produced by business units of Freightliner LLC and other
premium vehicle manufacturers such as those in the firetruck, emergency,
motorcoach and motorhome markets.
