IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gateway, Inc., the

    About Business Tools for Schools
The Los Angeles Unified School District's Business Tools for Schools
(BTS) project, formerly known as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), kicked
off on June 27, 2005. This project is a 27-month implementation of the SAP
software.
The SAP systems will help LAUSD improve many processes and functions,
including access to resources and school information, workflow and
integrated systems, and communications within and between schools in the
district. It will allow principals to hire new teachers and staff using web
tools, make purchases from vendors and the LAUSD warehouse, and monitor
spending and budget balances in a timely manner.
The core SAP modules will roll out in three major releases. In addition
to integrating the district's disparate systems, SAP will improve both
business and financial processes to better meet the needs of schools. The
first release was scheduled to go live in July 2006, with the next releases
planned for December 2006 and July 2007.
