Announcement: Application Period Open for Charles Schwab Bank Community Development Capacity Building Grant

                 Program Deadline, Monday, October 2, 2006

    RENO, Aug. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Charles Schwab Bank today
announced it is accepting applications for its 2006 Community Development
Capacity Grant program. The deadline for applications is Monday, October 2,
2006. The grant initiative is to build the capacity of nonprofit
organizations, faith-based groups and public agencies in Washoe and Storey
Counties, Nevada to undertake affordable housing and community development
projects.
    Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis in the areas of
organization capacity building, project development and public policy
relating to affordable housing and community development projects. Grant
recipients will receive between $5,000 and $20,000 towards their projects.
    In order to encourage broad participation in the grant program, and to
attract smaller non-profit organizations that might have difficulty in
applying, Charles Schwab Bank is offering technical assistance to a limited
number of organizations in shaping their funding requests and preparing
their applications for this grant program. Request for technical assistance
must be made at least four (4) weeks prior to the application deadline.
