NEW YORK, Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Merrill Lynch (NYSE: MER) today
announced that Tulio Vera has joined the Global Fixed-Income Research
Department as head of International Emerging Markets Research.
Mr. Vera will manage the Latin American and European emerging-markets
research teams and work in close partnership with the Asian emerging markets
fixed-income and economics group, headed by Bill Belchere.
"Tulio is an award-winning analyst who brings a wealth of experience and
knowledge to this role," said Donald Ullmann, Merrill Lynch's Director of
Global Fixed Income Research. "We look forward to adding his unique insights
to an already-strong team of Merrill Lynch debt analysts."
Mr. Vera, who joins Merrill Lynch from ABN Amro, was ranked first by Latin
Finance in the Quantitative Debt Analysis and Argentine Debt categories; he
also placed second in the Brazilian Debt category.
Prior to joining ABN Amro two years ago, Mr. Vera was head of Latin
American fixed-income research at Bear Stearns. He has also worked as a
Financial Officer in the international Finance Corporation of the World Bank,
and a Senior Analyst in Sovereign Risk at Moody's Investor Service.
Mr. Vera completed all course work for a Ph.D. in economics at New York
University.
