SEATTLE, Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Online real estate broker Redfin
Corporation today announced the departure of its founder, David Eraker. Mr.
Eraker, who led the company's product management and business development
efforts, is leaving Redfin to pursue new opportunities.
Mr. Eraker started Redfin to build software for real estate brokerages,
later developing Redfin.com, the first website to combine online maps with
listings and tax records. On the strength of this technology, Mr. Eraker
raised the company's initial round of venture capital from angel investors
and Madrona Venture Group.
"It's a rare entrepreneur who has the vision and energy to re-imagine
one of the largest, most traditional industries in America," said Redfin
CEO Glenn Kelman. "We all owe a great debt to David, and wish him well."
"Redfin has been a tremendously rewarding experience, and I am
confident the business will continue to grow and prosper," said Mr. Eraker.
"This was a company run out of apartments, by people working without pay,
often against long odds. With that kind of heart, we've been able to come a
long ways from where we began, and can go much further still."
