DEESIDE, England, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Kemitron Technologies, the North
Wales high tech manufacturer of both printed circuit boards and electronic
assemblies, needs to respond rapidly to the introduction of new parts and
product upgrades, which are accelerating among market conscious OEM's. The
process of absorbing new designs into the manufacturing process is inherently
complex; without the right tools it is labour intensive and potentially a
quality minefield. Since Kemitron's manufacturing portfolio involves a high
level of variety, the company had to focus intensively on New Product
Introduction tools and techniques.
Kemitron explored the market widely for a package which would assist in
the integration of client parts lists with Kemitron's manufacturing processes.
What impressed the Engineering Department about Fabmaster was the flexibility
and power of this software tool which enabled Kemitron to convert
CAD information to generate programs for its five Mydata surface mount
placement machines, its Teradyne ATE and its new Flying Probe Tester using the
minimum of human intervention with all its potential for introducing error.
As the technical staff become increasingly familiar with its potential,
there are plans to use Fabmaster for the development of production aids
including a view station to more assist the first off process.
Kemitron is now able to provide a better service to clients, most
noticeably where the OEM needs a quick turn round. The capability provided by
the Fabmaster package is one component underpinning Kemitron's increasing
emphasis on prototype business.
