Forum will encourage collaborations between science and industry
CLEVELAND, Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The Lorain County Manufacturing Council
(LCMC) today announced it will host a forum October 20 to encourage
collaboration between nanotechnology interests and manufacturers to develop
more efficient ways to make products through applications of the small
science. The Nanotechnology Manufacturers' Forum is one of a series of events
scheduled for NANO Week, the five-day nanotechnology conference that first
debuted in 2004. The LCMC forum will take place at the Spitzer Conference
Center on the campus of Lorain County Community College (1005 North Abbe Road,
Elyria, Ohio).
"This forum presents an excellent learning opportunity for the
manufacturer who wants to understand how nanotechnology applies to his own
industry," said John Butkowski, president of the LCMC.
The forum is directed to representatives of manufacturing companies,
including those who hold senior technical positions; business executives;
marketing and sales representatives; entrepreneurs; policy makers and economic
development leaders. Those who attend will gain an understanding of
nanotechnology, learn how to make product and process improvements, and
generate new market opportunities.
Speakers for the forum are invited executives from companies and
organizations leading the commercialization of nanotechnology. Confirmed
speakers at this time include: Alan Brown, Ph.D., Vice President Chief
Technology Officer for CAMP, Inc.; David Jarus, R&D Manager for PolyOne
Corporation; Frank Boron, President of BioPlastics, Inc.; Hassan Bodaghi,
Director of Business Development for the Nordson Corporation and Lou Luedtke,
President and CEO of the National Composite Center. Additional speakers will
be announced a later date.
"This forum will allow traditional manufacturing companies an opportunity
to gain a competitive edge and learn how to incorporate nanotechnology into
their manufacturing processes," said Chris Mather, executive director of the
Nano-Network and associate director of NorTech. "Our goal is to facilitate
interaction between nanotechnology developers and companies that want to
improve their businesses through the use of nanotechnology."
Registration for the event is as follows: $50 Non-Members,
$40 Nano-Network and LCMC Members and $30 Faculty and College Students. The
