Franklin Covey Announces Preliminary Year End Results and Fiscal 1999 Forecast

    SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Franklin Covey Co. (NYSE: FC)
today announced anticipated results for the fiscal fourth quarter and fiscal
year ended August 31, 1998.  The Company stated that sales for the fiscal year
will be approximately $550 million with earnings per share in the $1.60 to
$1.65 range for fiscal 1998.  The estimated sales for the quarter are expected
to be approximately $160 million with earnings per share in the $0.63 to $0.68
range.
    The Company also gave its first estimate for the coming fiscal 1999 year
that begins September 1, 1998.  The Company expects sales to grow 5% to 10%
and to reach about $600 million.  The Company expects to show earnings in the
$1.80 to $1.90 per share range for fiscal 1999.  Management of the Company
believes that the sizable fiscal 1998 investment in upgraded information
systems, integration efforts associated with the merger, new products and the
share repurchase program will aid the growth of sales and earnings per share
this next fiscal year.
