Solution Offers Embedded Digital Signal Processing Software Developers
Access to Runtime Analysis Capabilities
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Rational User
Conference -- Rational Software (Nasdaq: RATL) today announced the integration
of Rational(R) Test RealTime, Rational's complete solution for testing and
analyzing embedded, real-time and networked systems, with the Texas
Instruments (TI) Code Composer Studio(TM), TI's fully integrated development
environment for digital signal processing platforms.

This integration allows developers designing on TI's TMS320(TM) family of
digital signal processors (DSP) to improve the reliability, performance and
quality of their code without changing the way they work.
Via an eXpressDSP(TM)-compliant plug-in, the integration delivers Rational
Test RealTime runtime analysis functionality directly within the Code Composer
Studio environment, empowering DSP developers working within the debugging,
tuning and testing phases of the code development life cycle. The integrated
solution is available at no charge to all Rational Test RealTime customers
through a download at
http://www.rational.com/support/downloadcenter/addins/testrt/index.jsp.
"The integration of Rational Test RealTime with Code Composer Studio is
extremely beneficial for our TI DSP customers," said John Schanzenbach,
eXpressDSP platform manager, TI. "By working with Rational, DSP software
developers can take advantage of Code Composer Studio's open plug-in
architecture to enjoy the benefits of code testing and runtime analysis. With
this integration, we are now able to provide a solution that enables DSP
developers to create optimized, robust software more quickly and efficiently."
Rational Test RealTime's runtime analysis features, which include memory
profiling, performance profiling, code coverage analysis and UML-based runtime
tracing, unobtrusively monitor the testing and debugging efforts of embedded
developers throughout the development process. In addition, these
capabilities leverage Rational's versatile embedded target adaptation
technology, which can be extended by TI customers to provide limitless target
support and thereby ensure that runtime analysis can be performed in all
targeted TI environments, including the actual, intended embedded device.
To further enhance the relationship, Rational has joined TI's third-party
network, the most extensive collection of DSP development support in the
industry. Rational's compliant plug-in offers customers an additional level
of comfort in knowing that the product being integrated has been tested to
comply with TI's software standards.
"By integrating Rational Test RealTime with TI's leading-edge Code
Composer Studio development tools, we've given DSP software developers the
ability to quickly and efficiently optimize their code," said Eric Schurr,
chief marketing officer, Rational Software. "This solution liberates
developers from unproductive activities and enables them to spend time on the
more creative aspects of software development."
