MCKINNEY, Texas, Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) was
recently awarded a contract by EADS/CASA for the delivery of eight SeaVue
maritime surveillance radars, spares, and logistical support. The value of the
contract was not disclosed. A follow-on order for 12 additional radars is
expected in 2003.
Under the contract, the SeaVue radars will be delivered to the prime
integrator, EADS/CASA, for integration and installation on the Mexican Navy's
refurbished C-212 aircraft. The systems are configured for small target
detection, search and rescue, and weather detection and navigation.
Mexico's C-212 maritime patrol aircraft will be used for control of the
nation's exclusive economic zone, counter-narcotics operations and
interdiction, and support of fleet deployments.
The SeaVue family of radars is designed to detect small maritime targets
in high seas and provide superior sea search mode performance. The system's
flexible architecture enables SeaVue to meet a variety of surveillance
requirements and support multiple missions. In addition, active and passive
system tests allow for easy maintenance and decreased support costs.
Depending on the configuration, typical SeaVue missions include maritime
surveillance, search and rescue, navigation, harbor monitoring, economic zone
surveillance, ship imaging and classification, overland mapping, activity
detection, environmental monitoring, oil spill detection and ice flow mapping.
SeaVue is currently in operation in six countries, including the United
States.
