Shanghai Jinshan Attracts More Businesses

Good Planning and Infrastructure Seen as Key to Attracting Yet More Companies


    SHANGHAI, China, Aug. 19 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Shanghai Jinshan District
Government announced today that another 20 companies are expected to start
operations in Jinshan Industrial Park by the end of September.
    During the 2nd quarter of the year, six foreign companies, namely Shanghai
Cityshine Vrban Construction&Development Co.,LTD, Hongyu Shi Lu Pharmaceutical
Shanghai Co.,LTD, Tamagawa Hygiene  Commodity(Shanghai) Co.,LTD, Shanghai Hude
Optics-Electronics Technology Co.,LTD, Shanghai Sanyu Information Technology
Co.,LTD, Shanghai Maruki Industries Corp., and two local firms, Shilin
Sanitaryware and Tongtu Trading, have all based themselves in the park.
    In addition, land is being developed and preliminary work started for the
Grand Dragon Roofing Material Project and Dongguan Paper Industry, the latter
also busy increasing its registered capital.  Construction work for Jinjing
Special Wires, Fukusuke Industries and Yalong Industries is also now underway.
Plus, design proposals to build 11 projects including Jurui Piping and Ruituo
Hardware have been approved by the planning authority and workshop drawings
are now in process.
    In order to attract more businesses, Jinshan Industrial Park is focused on
establishing a high-end planning and management environment in the park.  They
have stepped up their efforts in building a sound municipal surface network,
assuring the residents of full access to the services of electricity,
telecommunications and natural gas, etc.  In mid July, sewerage treatment
works for three internal roads were completed and tenders will be invited via
public bidding processes to undertake the civil construction work of another
six roads including Zhuxin Road.  The jobs are expected to commence in stages
and be completed by the end of the year.

    Located in the southwest of Shanghai, the Shanghai Jinshan District covers
586.05 square kilometers, with 14 towns and a population of 550,000.
Previously known as Jinshan County, and established 277 years ago, Jinshan
District now covers Jinshan County and the Sinopec Shanghai Jinshan Industrial
Company.  It was the first district to be established on the outskirts of
Shanghai on 12 May 1997.
