Report Evaluates 'How the Architectures of E.piphany's, Oracle's,
PeopleSoft's, SAP's and Siebel's CRM Product Suites Stack Up
Against Each Other'
SAN MATEO, Calif., Aug. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- After a thorough
evaluation of architectures from E.piphany (Nasdaq: EPNY), Oracle, PeopleSoft,
SAP and Siebel, the Patricia Seybold Group stated in a recent report, "Clearly
E.piphany E.6 is the best architecture in the group of five CRM architectures
that we evaluated."

The August 8, 2002 Patricia Seybold Group report titled, "Comparing CRM
Architectures" noted, "In all the framework-based comparison that we've done,
and we've done many of them over the past 11 years, we've always said,
'There's no best' in the group of tools, databases, applications, or
architectures that we've evaluated. We can't say that any longer. Clearly
E.piphany E.6 is the best architecture in the group of five CRM architectures
that we evaluated. It's open, flexible, easily customizable through metadata,
and offers a broad range of approaches for integration of external
applications. E.piphany made a major R&D investment in E.6 architecture. The
architecture creates a homogeneous platform for CRM functionality that had
been developed and implemented with heterogeneous technologies by E.piphany
R&D and the R&D organizations of companies that E.piphany had acquired. We
think that this investment will pay off for E.piphany, and it will pay off for
you."
The report also stated, "Siebel 7 did not come out very well in the
comparisons either. Its legacy technology also creates problems in
organization, infrastructure, and structure." In the conclusion section, the
report noted, "Siebel 7 is virtually a completely proprietary architecture.
We're concerned that Siebel is moving away from best practices, even common
sense, in architecture. Eventually, its architectural disadvantages will begin
to affect your selection of Siebel products."
"The delivery of E.piphany Service 6 and the culmination of our
E.6 Platform is a milestone for E.piphany and the CRM industry," said
Phil Fernandez, executive vice president of products at E.piphany. "Based on
what we're hearing from customers, we believe this architecture and our suite
of applications will truly help them achieve their goal of delivering a
continuous customer experience. E.piphany E.6 provides a powerful
infrastructure for component applications, yielding easy configuration, and
greater system-to-system interoperability -- all driving a lower total cost of
ownership."
The Patricia Seybold Group report was the result of a lengthy and thorough
research project that began at the end of 2001. The organization evaluated CRM
architectures in terms of usability, look and feel, performance and
scalability, manageability, and availability; recognizing that CRM
architecture is the key to how easily CRM applications can be integrated with
back-end systems to provide customers with critical information (e.g.,
inventory availability, order status, etc.), to automate end-to-end business
processes, and to provide a 360-degree view of customers.
