today elected two new Directors -- noted scholar and college president Dr.
Beverly Daniel Tatum, and real estate developer Stephen S. Green.

Tatum is president of Spelman College and Green is president and chief
executive officer of Stephen Green Properties, a commercial real estate
investment and development company in Savannah.
"Beverly's keen understanding of the educational challenges we face in
Georgia and her extensive experience researching and creating awareness
around diversity issues will make her an outstanding addition to our
board," said Mike Garrett, Georgia Power president and CEO.
"Steve, with his real estate investment and development experience and
his knowledge of business and civic activities in Georgia's coastal area,
will bring important insights. I'm pleased to have them both as members of
our board of directors," said Garrett.
A renowned scholar, teacher, clinical psychologist and race relations
expert, Tatum has been president of Spelman College since August 2002.
Prior to assuming this role, she spent 13 years at Mount Holyoke College
where she served as a psychology professor, department chair, dean of the
college and acting president.
Tatum earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Wesleyan University
in Middletown, Conn., and a master's degree and Ph.D. in Clinical
Psychology from the University of Michigan. She also has a master's degree
in Religious Studies from Hartford Seminary.
Tatum is a member of the Atlanta Rotary Club and the Metro Atlanta
Chamber of Commerce. She has also served on the board of directors of the
Association of American Colleges and Universities and Wesleyan University.
A member of President Bush's Board of Advisors on Historically Black
Colleges and Universities, in 2008 Tatum was named one of the "100 Most
Influential Georgians" by Georgia Trend Magazine.
A Savannah native, Green founded Stephen Green Properties in 1987 and
has served as president and chief executive officer since its inception.
Before heading Stephen Green Properties, Green was president of a family
business, Green Distributors, a Frito-Lay distributor for Southeast
Georgia. Between these two business enterprises he served four years as
chief of staff for former Congressman Lindsay Thomas. In 2004, Green was
appointed by Governor Sonny Perdue to serve on the Georgia Ports Authority
board, where he was subsequently elected chairman in June 2007.
Green holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the
University of Georgia.
He serves on the board of directors of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce,
the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport Commission and the Savannah
International Trade and Convention Authority, and is a trustee of the
Savannah Vocational Technical College Foundation Board. He is also on the
executive committee and board of the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce,
where he has held positions as chairman and treasurer.
