EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Five major Southern California
aerospace companies have joined together to sponsor the 11th Annual Supplier
Diversity Marketplace. Raytheon Company, The Boeing Company, Northrop Grumman
Corporation, Lockheed Martin, and TRW, are hosting this event to provide a
forum for small, minority, and women-owned businesses to meet with buyers and
to receive information on doing business with major corporations and
government agencies.
"Connecting to a World of Opportunities through E-Business" is the theme
for this year's Marketplace event, to be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2001,
at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, Los Angeles Airport, 6101 West Century
Boulevard, Los Angeles, Calif., from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Stephen J. Ogg, director, Supply Chain Management for Raytheon Electronic
Systems, will serve as Master of Ceremonies. The Honorable Jane Harman, Member
of Congress, 36th District, will address the Marketplace during opening
ceremonies. The Los Angeles Air Force Base Honor Guard will present colors,
and the featured speaker of the day will be Anthony J. DeLuca, director,
Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, Department of the Air
Force, Pentagon, Washington D.C.
The Marketplace will include a panel of experts from EXOSTAR, FreeMarkets,
and SupplierGATEWAY, who will discuss some of the current business-to-business
tools used in the aerospace industry, as well as cost-effective tools for
small businesses to participate in E-business. The event program also includes
two additional seminars focusing on financial planning and success strategies.
More than 500 participants from nearly 50 major corporations and
government agencies are expected to attend, including buyers, engineers and
other key decision-makers. Participating organizations include Chevron,
Aerojet, Coca-Cola Enterprises, The Aerospace Corporation, Honeywell, Computer
Sciences Corporation, Science Applications International Corporation, the U.
S. Small Business Administration and the Los Angeles Minority Business
Opportunity Committee.
