Redundant Power Supplies, Hard Drives and Xeon Processors
                 Protect Organizations' Data and Applications

POWAY, Calif., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Redundancy may be akin to
inefficiency in some business leaders' minds, but when it comes to servers,
it's a good thing.
    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20020930/LAM050LOGO )
Take the Gateway(R) 960X, for example. Launching today and designed for
small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) or workgroups within larger
organizations, the server offers a host of redundancy features that allow it
to achieve maximum uptime -- meaning critical business applications, such as
email, file/print, web applications and other departmental software, are
always on.
Packed with high-performance components, the 960X delivers this redundancy
at an aggressive price. Features such as dual Intel(R) Xeon(TM) processors,
four hot-swap drives, optional redundant 450W power supply and plenty of room
for future expansion mean it can grow with any department, workgroup or
office. The 960X's flexibility extends even to its form factor, as it comes
standard in a tower case but can also be converted into a 5U rack-mount
option.
"The Gateway 960X is a mid-range server that delivers high-performance
features," said Scott Weinbrandt, general manager of Gateway's Systems &
Networking Products Division. "It's an ideal product for smaller companies
and workgroups looking for value at a competitive price -- with advanced
capabilities such as redundant power and hot-swappable drives."
Starting at $1,399(1), the Gateway 960X incorporates several high-end
server technologies, such as dual Intel(R) Xeon(TM) processors, up to 8GB of
ECC (error-correcting) memory, four Ultra 320 SCSI hot-swap drive bays, two
5 1/4" available peripheral bays, six PCI slots (four of which are PCI-X) and
integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet for networked environments. The 960X supports
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003 or Microsoft Small Business
Server 2000. RedHat Linux is also available as a custom install via Gateway's
Custom Integrated Solutions (CIS) Department.
Gateway provides a comprehensive array of support services for the 960X
via its Gateway Network Support Center. This includes standard Three-Year
Parts and Labor, Three-Year On-Site, Next-Business-Day Limited Warranty(2) and
24/7 technical support. Gateway's optional four-hour, on-site response
service, provided through IBM Global Services, gives customers a heightened
level of support for maximum uptime(2). Gateway technicians are fully trained
on the 960X, and all hold MCSE (Microsoft Certified System Engineer)
certifications -- with many holding additional certifications, such as Novell,
RedHat Linux and others.
Gateway's launch of the Gateway(R) 960X is the latest advance from the
company as it transforms itself from a traditional PC maker to a branded
integrator of professional technology solutions. As a branded integrator,
Gateway will launch an array of branded products across a host of new
categories for the balance of the year, and will integrate those products into
customized solutions for its consumer and business customers. For more
