POWAY, Calif., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- It is said that freedom
comes at a price. Today, Gateway lowers the price of freedom with two new
attractively-priced notebook PCs.

The entry-level Gateway(R) M305 delivers a range of mobility and storage
capabilities at a starting price of just $799.99(1), while the full-featured
Gateway(R) M350 offers high performance and plentiful connectivity options at
a starting price of just $1,399.99(1).
"The days of people leaving their computers at home or at the office are
ending," said Ajay Gupta, vice president, notebook products, Gateway, Inc.
Now millions of people realize that owning a notebook PC means having fun,
staying connected and enjoying access to information. These great new mobile
PCs from Gateway improve our customers' lives: professionals can stay in touch
with clients, families on vacation can share photos and videos, and students
can listen to MP3s or do last-minute homework wherever they go."
The new Gateway M305 and Gateway M350 notebook PCs are being introduced at
a time when retail notebook sales are setting new records. According to The
NPD Group, May 2003 marked the first time that the dollar sales of notebook
computers sold by retailers surpassed dollar sales of desktop computers.

Gateway M350: All the Extras at a Mainstream Price
Business and home users who want an easy-to-use, fully integrated,
mobile-ready system need look no further than the Gateway M350. The new
notebook delivers up to four hours of battery life with a standard 12-cell
battery for extra productivity on the road(5). Plus, surfing the Internet and
checking emails is fast and easy with the system's integrated 802.11g WiFi
(standard or optional depending on configuration). The newer 802.11g WiFi
technology delivers a fast wireless connection and is backward compatible with
existing 802.11b WiFi networks.
Delivering an all-around great mobile computing experience, the system
includes a Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 processor ranging in speeds from
2.66GHz to 3.06GHz. The large 15-inch TFT display delivers a crisp picture
and is offered in XGA and SXGA+ resolutions. The Gateway M350 also comes
standard with integrated V.92 modem and 10/100 Ethernet(3).
The digital media-ready Gateway M350 houses two integrated storage devices
-- a six-in-one memory card reader that accepts the most popular memory
devices, along with a DVD burner or CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive, depending on
configuration. These storage devices, along with the large hard drive, two
USB 2.0 ports and IEEE connection, make it easy to store, edit and share
presentations, files, photos and video using the Gateway M350.

The new PC is available in three configurations. The entry level model,
the M350S, is priced at $1,399.99(1) and comes with:

     -- 15-inch XGA display
     -- Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor 2.66GHz
     -- 256MB PCC 133 DDR RAM
     -- 40GB hard disk drive(2)
     -- Six-in-one memory card reader
     -- Combo CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive
-- Intel Extreme Graphics with 64MB UMA video memory
     -- Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home

Gateway M305: Low Price for High Performance
Students and home and small business computer users will find amazing
value in the new Gateway M305 notebook PC, which offers the essentials of
mobile computing to stay connected and productive while away from home or the
office. The slim starting price is matched by the system's sleek design that
measures only 1.4 inches thin. Plus, the system weighs only 6.2 pounds --
nearly two pounds less than competitive entry-level notebooks -- so it is easy
to tote to meetings or class.
Exceptional battery life keeps professionals, consumers and students
connected and productive. The standard battery delivers up to two hours of
battery life, while the upgrade to the eight-cell Lithium Ion battery provides
up to four hours of battery life for maximum computer uptime(5).
The Gateway M305's Mobile Intel(R) Celeron(R) or Mobile Intel Pentium 4-M
processor contributes to improved mobile processing performance. Integrated
wireless 802.11g WiFi can be added to the system for only $69, giving small
businesses with WLANs and schools deploying wireless mobile carts the option
for fast wireless access to the Internet. Connectivity to networks or via a
telephone line is also easy with the system's integrated V.92 modem and 10/100
Ethernet(3).
The Gateway M305's large 14.1-inch or 15-inch display (depending on
configuration) vibrantly showcases digital media from the two integrated
storage devices that differ by configuration -- either a CD-ROM, DVD-ROM or
Combo CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive as well as a six-in-one memory card reader or floppy
disk drive. Popular consumer electronics devices, such as digital cameras and
camcorders or the new Gateway Digital Music Player, can be connected directly
to the PC via its USB 2.0 port.

The new PC is available in three configurations. The entry level model,
the Gateway M305S, is priced at $799.99(1) and comes with:

     -- 14.1-inch XGA display
-- Mobile Intel Celeron processor 2.0GHz
     -- 128MB DDR RAM
     -- 20GB hard disk drive(2)
     -- Six-in-one memory card reader
     -- DVD-ROM drive
-- Intel Extreme Graphics with 64MB DMVT video memory
     -- Microsoft Windows XP Home
