INTEL DEVELOPERS FORUM, SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Pulse
Entertainment, the leader in the development of rich media technology for the
Internet, marked the beginning of the Intel Developers Forum here by
announcing release of the Pulse Player(TM) 4.1 for viewing interactive rich
media on the Web in the highest quality 3D.
With 32-bit rendering, adaptive subdivision smoothing, real-time inverse
kinematics (IK) and real-time lip synch, Pulse Player 4.1 is a giant step
toward lifelike realism in rich media Web animation and interactivity. Pulse
Player 4.1 can be downloaded at http://www.pulse3D.com.
Pulse also announced that succeeding releases of Pulse Players will be
optimized for Intel's next-generation Pentium(R) 4(TM) processor. Intel
currently offers the Pulse Player with its WebOutfitter(TM) Service, and will
have an optimized Pulse Player available later, in line with the introduction
of the Pentium 4 processor.
"Pulse's Player will harness the capabilities of the Pentium 4 processor
to enable the distribution of broadcast-quality e-commerce and entertainment
content via the Web," said Peter Wolochow, platform and technology enabling
manager at Intel Corp. "Intel is excited to be working with Pulse
Entertainment on transforming the Internet into a medium for rich digital
commerce and entertainment. This is a great example of how Intel's processor
performance is improving people's Web experience."
Fred Angelopoulos, chief executive of Pulse Entertainment, said:
"Computer users are demanding enhanced rich media capabilities in their PCs to
get the best possible Web experience. The new Pulse Player 4.1 and Pulse
Players optimized for the Pentium 4 processor take advantage of the amazing
processor horsepower and instruction sets now available on the Intel platform.
End users will now experience Pulse-powered content equal to that of high-end
broadcast-quality resources and frame-rate."
"We currently use Pulse technology to bring many characters to life,
including 'Knockout Kings 2001' and Alice, from the game 'American McGee's
Alice,'" said Eiso Kawamoto, senior web producer at Electronic Arts. "Pulse
allows us to take our depiction to another level, showing people that 'Alice'
is truly a 3D action game. Now, Pulse Player 4.1 and optimization for Pentium
4 processor will let us create an even richer, higher-performance, more
realistic experience for fans of Electronic Arts' entertainment content."
Pulse Player, powerful yet compact, enables the delivery of Pulse-powered
content to connected and wireless consumers. Pulse Player delivers
high-quality 3D rendering and audio features and supports playback of
HTTP-streamed audio in perfect synchronization with interactive animation
files.
For animators, developers and users, Pulse Player 4.1 features 32-bit
rendering for photorealistic effects, adaptive subdivision smoothing to allow
the delivery of more natural characters through high-quality curved-surface
representation, real-time inverse kinematics (IK) to bring natural character
behaviors during both authoring and user playback. In addition, the new
real-time lip synch delivers precise character speech and lip synchronization.
