Alternative Rocker Henry Rollins to Visit Troops in Egypt and Turkey on USO Tour

    WASHINGTON, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Singer, author, actor and monologist
Henry Rollins will embark on his sixth USO tour to provide a morale boost to
troops stationed in Egypt and Turkey Aug. 25-Sept. 1.  Rollins will meet with
service members, tour a variety of job posts and sign autographs. Rollins's
past USO tour stops include Kuwait, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Qatar,
Honduras, Japan, Korea and the United Arab Emirates.  The Washington, D.C.,
native also has visited troops recuperating at Walter Reed Army Medical Center
and the National Naval Medical Center.

    Best known for his alternative rock/punk music, Rollins began his career
with punk pioneers, Black Flag. He toured and recorded with the group until
they disbanded in 1986. The following year, he reappeared with the Rollins
Band, where he recorded several successful albums. In 1994, the Rollins Band
released "Weight," which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance
for the song "Liar."
    An accomplished spoken-word performer, he earned a Grammy for the audio
version of his book "Get in the Van." His speaking engagements, along with his
band dates, have averaged more than one hundred shows annually for 25 years.
He also ventured into acting with appearances on television and in several
feature films, including "Bad Boyz II," "Jack Frost," "Johnny Mnemonic" and
"Alibi."
    Rollins founded his own recording and publishing company, and has released
more than a dozen books, several CDs and DVDs. In February 2005, he released
"Shock and Awe," a DVD where he discusses his eclectic life and his travels
around the globe.  Additionally, he hosts "Henry's Film Corner" on the
Independent Film Channel.

    For more than 64 years, the USO (United Service Organizations) has been
providing morale and recreation-type services to U.S. military personnel and
