Public, Nurses, Doctors, Most Delegates Agree: We Need Single-Payer,
'Medicare for All' Now
DENVER, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In the face of a healthcare
crisis that is forcing our nation into recession, leading 79 million
Americans to have trouble paying their medical bills, and causing the
premature and unnecessary deaths of 101,000 Americans every year, a broad
coalition of activists will be working at the upcoming Democratic
convention to build support for healthcare reform.
The California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee,
AFL-CIO (CNA/NNOC), together with the Progressive Democrats of America
(PDA), will lobby on the floor, table, network, and hold events to build
support for HR 676 (Conyers) and its promise of guaranteed healthcare on
the single-payer model that is succeeding in nearly every other

The Progressive Democrats of America will host a panel on
"Healthcare, AIDS, and Africa," that will feature CNA/NNOC leader
Marilyn Albert, RN, and spokesperson Donna Smith.

* Tuesday, August 26, 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
CNA/NNOC, PDA, and labor leaders will honor the members of the
HR 676 Congressional Caucus, and "Healthcare hero" candidates;
music by Poncho Sanchez, the King of Latin Jazz.
