Longstanding Customer to Upgrade Numerous Solutions Within Framework to
Address Customer Care, Order Management and Billing
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Global billing and
customer care solutions provider CSG Systems (Nasdaq: CSGS) today announced
that GCI, Alaska's premier integrated telecommunications provider, has
selected solutions within the Kenan(R) FX framework to support the customer
care and billing needs of its telephony and Internet subscribers.

GCI will deploy the latest version of Kenan(R)/BP billing engine and
Customer Center, CSG's new and fully configurable customer care application
that provides order management and customer care support in a single
application that is integrated with billing. Customer Center can be easily
configured to meet individual look-and-feel and screen workflow requirements,
giving the operator control over how the application is used within existing
business processes.
GCI also will deploy the Orders Modules that are part of Kenan FX, which
enable pre-integrated order entry, order fulfillment, and inventory management
capabilities that work seamlessly with Kenan/BP. With the Orders Modules, GCI
can better manage customer requests from the point of request acquisition
through service activation to billing.
GCI, which has used the Kenan billing, order management and Data Mediation
solutions since 1998, selected the Kenan FX framework for its pre-integrated
customer care, ordering and billing and for its ability to more easily
integrate with other applications that already exist within its enterprise.
"With the new Kenan FX framework, GCI believes that CSG understands what
is required for service providers to deliver innovative services efficiently
and cost-effectively by offering solutions that are pre-integrated but can
also easily integrate with other applications," said Jim Dunlap, VP
Information Technology, GCI. "The unified orders and billing capabilities of
Kenan FX will enable GCI to more easily provide cross product offers and
bundled services."
"CSG's vision with Kenan FX is to provide a single platform that handles
all aspects of billing, customer management and revenue enablement but that
requires less up-front work or investment to tie these mission-critical
functions together," said Darla Thompson, vice president product management,
CSG's Global Software and Services Division. "Kenan FX gives our customers
like GCI the ability to choose the most appropriate applications that meet
their needs today and into the future."
GCI, based in Anchorage, Alaska, serves 45 percent of the state's
long-distance market and is a competitive local exchange carrier. GCI is the
state's largest provider of Internet services with dial-up, cable modem,
wireless, digital subscriber line (DSL) and dedicated access. GCI's services
are connected through company-owned fiber optic, satellite and metropolitan
area network facilities to the lower 48 states. This broadband platform is
the only one of its kind in Alaska and allows the company to provide
customized services to the Alaska market.
About Kenan(R) FX
Kenan FX brings together the world-class Kenan billing engine and
revenue-enabling solutions with new ordering and customer management products
that address an operator's needs throughout its relationship with a customer.
The products and modules available within Kenan FX are pre-integrated, share a
common look-and-feel for all customer-facing functions and use a common middle
layer architecture. This approach gives operators the flexibility to choose
solutions that best fit their business needs today while preserving their
freedom to quickly add complementary tools to address emerging business models
and specific business challenges.
Kenan FX is designed to serve the needs of the convergent global
telecommunications marketplace, including next generation mobile, wireline,
broadband and IP service providers. This new offering is available in a
variety of delivery models, including as an in-house software solution, in a
service bureau or managed operations environment.
Another addition is a middle layer architecture, which makes it easier and
less costly to integrate products within the Kenan FX framework as well as
with third-party applications, ensuring a lower total cost of ownership over
time.
