MILPITAS, Calif., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sipex Corporation
(Nasdaq: SIPX), a leading provider of high performance, analog integrated
circuits (ICs), today announced the release of the new SP7615, a linear
constant current LED driver. It is designed to drive multiple LEDs in series
from a high input voltage rail (+16V max). Complimenting Sipex's existing LED
drivers, SP7615 is ideal for mid size LCD module backlighting, LCD TV LED
backlighting, landscape lighting, and any high power LED lighting application.
SP7615 employs a simple design that enables a cost effective solution for
driving LEDs from a wide range of input voltages. It is capable of powering
up to four LED strings of up to 125mA per string for a total of 500mA. LED
current can be adjusted with only one external resistor, thus offering a
simple and easy to use solution to accurately match the current between
multiple LEDs. The device also features very low drop out voltage for high
efficiency. Packaged in a tiny 2mm x 3mm 8 pin DFN package, the SP7615 offers
a small factor solution.
Its internal circuitry maintains the preset constant current output for a
wide voltage range at the 4 LED outputs. For example in a typical +12V input
application, the SP7615 can drive up to 3 LEDs in series per string for a
total of 12 LEDs, offering a powerful lighting solution. Brightness can be
adjusted by employing a PWM dimming scheme. Additionally, the SP7615 features
built-in thermal protection which automatically adjusts LED current to prevent
overheating.
