Spratlin Elected New UEDA President

ATLANTA, GA UNITED STATES
    LARCHMONT, N.Y., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Robin Spratlin, General
Manager of Economic Development for Georgia Power in Atlanta, Georgia, has
been elected President of the Utility Economic Development Association
(UEDA). Spratlin was elected unanimously to serve a two year term as UEDA
President during the organization's semi-annual board of directors meeting
held during the 2007 UEDA Summer Forum in Princeton, New Jersey. She
succeeds Jim Rogers of Duke Energy, an investor owned utility headquartered
in North Carolina. Mr. Rogers will remain on the UEDA Board of Directors as
Past President.

    The UEDA board rounded out its slate of officers by electing David
Smith of Duke Energy Ohio/Kentucky located Cincinnati, Ohio, as Vice
President, Theodore J. Penn of Wisconsin Public Service Corporation located
in Green Bay, Wisconsin as Secretary, and Nancy Norr of Minnesota Power, an
ALLETE Company, located in Duluth, Minnesota as Treasurer.
    The UEDA is an organization of investor owned utility economic
development professionals in the United States, Canada and Europe. It is
dedicated to meeting their unique needs through on-going education and
networking programs, while serving as an information source and conduit for
site selectors to UEDA members. The association supports its members and
their economic development allies with networking and educational forums,
advanced economic development education courses, and specific economic
development related research.
    "All UEDA activities are designed to help members succeed in meeting
the diverse economic development objectives and challenges faced by
investor-owned utilities and the communities they serve," comments
President elect Spratlin. "At the same time the association works to help
corporate site selectors and consultants deal more effectively with
utilities."
    Georgia Power is the largest subsidiary of Southern Company, one of the
nation's largest generators of electricity. The company is an
investor-owned, tax-paying utility with rates well below the national
average. Georgia Power serves 2.3 million customers in all but four of
Georgia's 159 counties. In her current position with Georgia Power Ms.
Spratlin is responsible for new and expanding industrial and commercial
business recruitment throughout the State of Georgia.
