New Jewel-Osco Store to Open in Arlington Heights; Food and Drug Combo Store Offers Shoppers the Best

    MELROSE PARK, Ill., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Committed to serving the
people of Arlington Heights with the finest food products, most innovative
retail features, and neighbor-friendly service, Jewel-Osco will celebrate the
grand opening of its newest state-of-the-art food and drug store.
    The newly constructed 62-thousand square-foot store located at
1860 S. Arlington Heights Rd., opens its doors for business Thursday,
August 27, at 8 a.m., and will complement two existing Jewel-Osco stores in
Arlington Heights.  Jewel Foods began serving Arlington Heights in 1940 at
15 Campbell Ave., with a 3500 square-foot store.
    The Jewel-Osco Store will be open to serve customer needs 24-hours daily
Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.  The pharmacy will be
open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to
5 p.m.
    The new Jewel-Osco boasts features that include a drive-through pharmacy,
walk-in floral cooler, liquor department, and one-hour photo service complete
with a Kodak Image Magic Station.
    Jewel-Osco chief-executive-officer, Greg Josefowicz, said the Melrose Park
based retailer appreciates the patience of its Arlington Heights customers
during eight months of construction which made it necessary to close the
Jewel-Osco Store at 50 W. Golf Road.
    "Jewel-0sco is thrilled to be providing the people of Arlington Heights
with this state-of-the-art food and drug store for their shopping
convenience," Josefowicz said.  "The store team is eager to serve the
community for many years to come."
    Josefowicz said the people of Arlington Heights can depend on Jewel
general manager, Paul Schnell, 0sco general manager, Chuck Gundlach, and their
team of 300 associates to provide the finest quality, selection, and service.
    The new store also features a TCF Bank branch office, Pier 14 Seafood
Counter, Chop-n-Block Meat Department, Chef's Kitchen Deli with hot foods
case, and a Fresh Bake Shop with items baked throughout the day.
    As an added feature for bake shop customers, this store can also produce
portrait cakes using computer technology to reproduce a favorite photograph on
a cake.
    Jewel-Osco operates 184 stores in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
Of those, 154 are in combination with Osco Drug.  Jewel also operates
79 stand-alone Osco Drug Stores in Chicagoland and the Milwaukee area.  The
