NEW YORK, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Merrill Lynch (NYSE: MER) today
announced that William Egan has joined the firm as Managing Director and head
of the Insurance Group, adding significantly to the firm's leading investment
banking franchise for financial institutions worldwide.
As head of the Insurance Group, Mr. Egan will report to Managing Director
Louis Wolfe, Chief Operating Officer for the Financial Institutions Group, and
Managing Director Gregory Fleming, head of U.S. Financial Institutions.

Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Mr. Egan was a Managing Director at Credit
Suisse First Boston, where he spent five years. Before that, he had been a
partner at the law firm LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae in New York.
