New Gateway Profile 4 All-in-One PC Isn't Just Beautiful - It's Smart, Powerful and Thrifty, Too

POWAY, Calif., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gateway, Inc. (NYSE: GTW)
today launches its sleek new Gateway Profile(R) 4 all-in-one PC with an
aggressive advertising campaign encouraging people to compare it head-to-head
with the Apple iMac computer on design, performance and value. TV, print and
Web ads employ hard facts to demonstrate the superiority of the Gateway
Profile 4 over the iMac.
A TV commercial debuting tonight on network news and sports programming
depicts the Gateway Profile 4 leapfrogging several iMac computers, with each
jump punctuating another point of comparison. After pointing out the Gateway
Profile's superiority in memory size, available programs and other key
attributes, the spot ends: "Did we mention the Gateway Profile 4 costs less
than the iMac?" Approximately 83 percent of adult Americans will see the
commercial an average of 14 times through September.
A magazine ad will encourage consumers and businesses to directly compare
the Gateway Profile 4 and iMac computers with the headline: "It's a close
contest. Until you turn them on."
The advertising campaign was created by Gateway's advertising agency,
Siltanen/Keehn of El Segundo, Calif.
"Since the debut of the first Gateway Profile computer in 1999, we've
pushed the envelope with what can be done in an all-in-one PC," said
Bart Brown, Gateway senior vice president of solutions. "Nobody can compete
with the performance, functionality, style and unbeatable price of the Gateway
Profile 4. And it runs Microsoft(R) Windows(R) and thousands of applications,
games and software titles that the iMac can't run."

Independent Bench Tests Validate Gateway Profile 4's Superior Performance
Independent, head-to-head performance tests completed this month by
eTesting Labs of Foster City, Calif., documented the Gateway Profile's
superiority over the iMac on 3D video performance, boot-up time, Internet
browser performance and time to load large files. For example, the Gateway
Profile 4 XL completed a web browsing test more than seven times faster than
the Apple iMac system, running the script in just three seconds as compared to
the iMac's 23 seconds.
