Edison Schools Schedules Fourth Quarter Earnings Call

         Invites Interested Parties to Hear About Company's Progress

    NEW YORK, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Edison Schools Inc.
(Nasdaq: EDSN) today announced that it will release its fourth quarter results
for the period ending June 30, 2003, on Wednesday, September 10, 2003, after
the market closes.  Following the release, the Company will host a conference
call with analysts and investors at 5:00 pm E.T. to discuss results for the
quarter.  Interested parties may listen to the call, which will be broadcast
live over the Internet, through the Company's website at
http://www.edisonschools.com.  The earnings release will also be available on the
Company's website after the market closes.
    To access the webcast, participants should visit the Investor Relations
section of the website at least fifteen minutes prior to the start of the
conference call to download and install any necessary audio software.  A
replay of the webcast will be available through the Company's website one hour
after the call until 5:00pm E.T. on Wednesday, September 17.
