American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. (Nasdaq: AEOS) today announced total sales for
the four weeks ended August 26, 2000 increased 29.6% to $120.9 million from
$93.3 million for the four-week period ended August 28, 1999. Same-store
sales for the 2000 period increased 9.1% compared to the corresponding
four-week period last year. This compares to a 24.0% same-store sales
increase in August 1999.
Sales for the thirty-week period ended August 26, 2000 increased 21.7% to
$507.9 million from $417.3 million for the thirty-week period ended August 28,
1999. Same-store sales for the fiscal 2000 year-to-date period rose 2.2%,
compared to the corresponding thirty-week period last year.
