Combined Solution Helps Web Portals and Enterprise Customers Rapidly Develop
Applications Using XML, Web, and Messaging Services
BOSTON, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Viridien Technologies, Cape Clear
Software, and MessageMachines have announced a strategic partnership to
provide advanced multi-platform messaging solutions to Web developers. The
new capability enables Viridien's corporate developers to integrate instant
alerts, notifications, and distributed messages into their wired or wireless
sites and to automatically communicate with users via any device: email, cell
phone, PDA, pager, or personal computer. The new capabilities were
demonstrated at the Software Development Web Services World Expo (Booth 413)
held this week in Boston.
"These message capabilities make it possible for our Fortune-1000
customers to leverage new Web services by integrating different types of
messaging into their Web applications," said Brian Sandberg, head of research
and development for Viridien. "The script can simply say to contact the sales
rep when a customer logs in or when certain key data changes on the Web site.
The Converged Messaging feature will take care of how and where to reach the
sales rep at that moment. It gives the developer an extremely powerful new
communications tool."
Viridien, a Web technology integrator specializing in the convergence of
the wired and wireless Web, selected Cape Clear for its Cape Connect(TM)
software product and MessageMachines for its unique message switching
technology. The result is a state-of-the-art development platform for
creating Web applications that detect change of state or events, generate
alerts, and send notifications via email, WAP alerts, Instant Messaging (ICQ),
SMS, and distributes messages to wireless devices, PDAs, and PCs.
CapeConnect is a complete Web Services offering that allows developers to
automatically expose existing Java, EJB, and CORBA components as Web Services
without writing code. CapeConnect Web Services are based on open standards
and provide full support for SOAP, WSDL, UDDI, XML, and HTTP.
According to Doug Levin, President of MessageMachines, the new platform
will quicken the buildout of mobile Web solutions that allow companies to
connect mobile agents and customers to their existing enterprise systems.
"The next phase of wireless communication will require a close connection
between the enterprise and its various remote users," Levin said. "These can
be sales agents, key employees, clients, suppliers, prospects, or any member
of the mobile workforce. The wireless Web can bring all those people together
and the Connect Message capability allows them to communicate with each other
in a convenient automated way."
Viridien expects the first applications of the new capabilities will be to
improve seller-buyer interaction with just-in-time information for marketing
of investments, loans, automobiles, electronics, insurance, and healthcare.
In addition to being completely wireless, the key features of the integrated
Viridien system are its ability to control the flow of exactly what
information is sent to the remote user, and the ability to connect remotely
with partner sites for mission-critical content and applications.
