NEW YORK, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The following are remarks by Governor
Bill Owens (CO) as prepared for delivery at the 2004 Republican National
Convention:
Thank you, Representative Hart.
And thank you to all the delegates whose passion and commitment come
through in this document.
Our Party is united behind President George W. Bush because we see the
results of his leadership.
We applaud his courage in waging the War on Terror.
The world is a very different place than it was when we met just four
years ago. And in many respects a far better place.
Thanks to the leadership of President Bush, our Members of Congress, and
Governors and local officials across America, our nation is more secure.
Thanks to the President's firm decision to confront and defeat terrorists
and the regimes that support them, America is safer, and more than 50 million
people in Iraq and Afghanistan are free.
These achievements are highlighted in this document.
They are the foundation on which we have built our strategy for winning
the War on Terror and advancing freedom.
The United States has a unique responsibility in the world. We are a
beacon of liberty and hope to men and women suffering under oppression and
tyranny.
We are a lifeline to people who endure terror. Our Party embraces that
responsibility. While others would turn over leadership to other nations and
other organizations, we proudly say that America will lead.
And we want George W. Bush leading America.
Our vision of leadership is contained in this document.
Republican principles have stood the test of time and events - especially
over the last four years.
We have faced unprecedented challenges and achieved unprecedented
successes.
The next four years hold the promise of even greater opportunity and
success for all Americans.
Together we reaffirm the values that guide us, and we commend these values
to the people of the United States, the strong, steady leadership of President
George W. Bush.
