NEW ORLEANS, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) said today
that health benefits and customer service for its Louisiana, Mississippi and
Alabama members affected by Hurricane Katrina are in force and will continue
without interruption.
The company said it is suspending until further notice its usual 30-day
restriction on early prescription refills for all commercial and Medicare
members in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama as a special service to members
in areas affected by the hurricane.
"Humana is open for business and serving our Gulf Coast members," said
Hassan Rifaat, M.D., chief executive officer of Humana's Southeast Region.
"We're committed to providing uninterrupted coverage and services to our
membership at this critical time."
Humana members needing benefits assistance can call the 800 number on the
back of their Humana identification card, or Humana's customer service
representatives at 1-866-427-7478.
