Tradeshow and Conference to Educate Developers, Designers, Marketers and
Entrepreneurs on How to Build Everything Web 2.0-Style
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- O'Reilly Media, Inc. and CMP
Technology, Inc., co-producers of the annual Web 2.0 Conference, today
jointly announced the launch of a new broad-based conference and tradeshow
serving the larger market of those who build and leverage the web. The new
event, Web 2.0 Expo, will take place April 15-18, 2007 at the Moscone West
Convention Center in San Francisco.
Web 2.0 Expo is designed to be the major annual gathering of the
technical, design, marketing, and business professionals who are building
the next generation web. The event will have three major components: a
five-track educational conference, including both traditional seminar
formats and elements of peer-to-peer learning; a major tradeshow showcasing
the sellers of tools, technologies, services and infrastructure; and
networking and other events targeted at internet entrepreneurs, venture
capitalists, and business development executives. Additional information on
Web 2.0 Expo conference content, registration information, and promotional
opportunities is available at http://www.web2-0expo.com.
Web 2.0 Expo is a companion event to the Web 2.0 Conference, which will
have its third annual iteration this November 7 - 9 at the Palace Hotel in
San Francisco. Limited in size and focused on business strategy and
networking, the Web 2.0 Conference sold out last year and is on a
by-invitation-only basis this year, with far greater demand than the event
can accommodate. Web 2.0 Expo will expand on the core themes of the
Conference and reach out to a much wider audience.
"Web 2.0 is one of the big ideas that's shaping the industry right
now," said Tim O'Reilly, founder and CEO of O'Reilly Media. "But every big
idea needs implementation. We saw the need for a second event that focuses
on how to actually build effective Web 2.0 applications. We're tackling not
just Web 2.0 as strategy but also design, programming, operations, and
viral marketing -- the elements of execution that will ultimately separate
the winners from the me-too companies in the space."
Web 2.0 Expo will feature the most innovative and successful Internet
industry figures and companies. These industry pioneers will provide
attendees with examples of business models, development paradigms, and
design strategies to enable mainstream businesses and new arrivals to the
Web 2.0 world to take advantage of this new generation of services and
opportunities. Conference tracks will include:
-- Web 2.0 Fundamentals
-- Design and User Experience
-- Marketing and Community
-- Strategy & Business Models
-- Web 2.0 Services and Platforms
"Businesses from all sectors all over the world are trying to figure
out how to put the principles of Web 2.0 work for them. Web 2.0 Expo is
designed to serve everyone who is building and leveraging the next
generation of the web, and will define the broader Web 2.0 community as it
continues to grow," said Eric Faurot, Senior Vice President, CMP
Technology. "Web 2.0 Expo is a perfect marriage between O'Reilly and CMP
Technology, and we are looking forward to continuing our partnership
together to address the industry's needs."
