Electric Lightwave Selects Priority Call's ORYX Prepaid and Voice Mail Platform

New Platform Doubles Traffic Capacity and Enhances Service Offerings

VANCOUVER, Wash., Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Electric Lightwave Inc.
(Nasdaq: ELIX), one of the nation's leading integrated communications
providers, today announced the conversion of its prepaid and voice mail
platform to Priority Call Management's ORYX(R) platform.
With the completion of the conversion, Electric Lightwave will double its
current voice mail and prepaid traffic capacity. The new $1.5 million ORYX
platform will provide the added capacity needed to meet customer demand that
has skyrocketed by 500% in the last three months.
The ORYX platform also helps Electric Lightwave stimulate network usage
and customer satisfaction by increasing its advanced service offerings with
prepaid wireless, and enhanced messaging services.
Electric Lightwave plans to service traffic on the new platform in mid-
September and complete the initial conversion to the new platform by the end
of the year.
As one of the leading providers of enhanced services platforms in the
United States, the ORYX platform allows Electric Lightwave to initially offer
customers enhanced prepaid services including speed dialing, easy prepaid card
recharging, interactive voice recognition and foreign language prompts. The
company's enhanced voice mail services will offer messaging service. Future
enhancements include fax capability, return call features and e-mail to voice
mail conversion. Electric Lightwave will also have the capability to add
prepaid wireless capabilities, and one number service, among others in the
future.
"Today's businesses demand faster and easier ways to communicate," said
Joe Arata, Electric Lightwave's vice president of the Voice Solutions
division. "We chose Priority Call because it sets the highest standard in
enhanced services platforms and the ORYX platform delivers additional
applications and services that meet our customers growing demand for
sophisticated communications solutions."
In addition, Electric Lightwave's prepaid customers will benefit from
full-call routing at the carrier level, which eliminates lengthy holds and
delays when a call is being routed. In addition, if there is a busy signal,
ORYX will re-route the call instantly so the customer benefits from the
highest quality of reliable service.
