MELROSE PARK, Ill., Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Committed to serving Lakeview
area residents with the finest food products, most innovative retail features,
and neighbor-friendly service, Jewel-Osco will celebrate the opening of a
uniquely designed and totally remodeled food and drug store.
Following five months of ceiling to floor renovation that includes a new
interior and facade, and improved roof-top parking area, Jewel-Osco,
3531 N. Broadway Ave., will celebrate the opening Thursday, Sept. 3.
The rebuilt 47-thousand square-foot food and drug store with a pharmacy
will be open to serve customer needs 24-hours daily Monday through Saturday,
and Sunday until midnight. The store will re-open each Monday morning at 7.
Pharmacy hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday from
9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Originally built in 1940 to serve as a taxi garage and parking facility,
the building was converted to a Jewel-Osco store in 1967, and enlarged to
47-thousand square-feet in 1978.
Jewel-Osco chief-executive-officer, Greg Josefowicz, said the Melrose Park
based retailer appreciates the patience of its Broadway Avenue customers since
the store closed in April for renovation.

Josefowicz said that Lakeview-area shoppers can depend on Jewel general
manager, Jim Seidler, Osco general manager, Norine Collins, and their team of
250 associates to provide the finest quality, selection, and service.
This state-of-the-art store also features a Pier 14 Seafood Counter,
Chop-n-Block Meat Department, Chef's Kitchen Deli with hot foods case, and a
Fresh Bake Shop with items baked throughout the day.
As an added feature for bake shop customers, this store can also produce
portrait cakes using computer technology to reproduce a favorite photograph on
a cake.
Jewel-Osco operates 186 stores in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
Of those, 156 are in combination with Osco Drug. Jewel also operates
79 stand-alone Osco Drug Stores in Chicagoland and the Milwaukee area. The
