Laurie to Participate in Tonight's Program, Along With First Lady Laura Bush
                      and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger

RIVERSIDE, Calif., Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern California pastor Greg
Laurie has been selected to deliver a prayer for the nation tonight at the
2004 Republican National Convention. Laurie, pastor of the 15,000-member
Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, Calif., will give the opening
invocation during the second evening of the convention program. Also
scheduled to appear tonight are First Lady Laura Bush, California Governor
Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Secretary of Education Ron Paige.
"People of faith play an important role in every election," said Laurie.
"Our beliefs motivate us to ask tough questions: What do we stand for? How
can our faith serve the greater good? I am honored to pray for our nation in
this forum."
Recognized by the New York Times as one of five evangelists in America
most likely to succeed Billy Graham in occupying the national pulpit, Laurie
is the founder of Harvest Crusades, evangelistic stadium and arena gatherings
that have drawn more than 3 million people in the U.S., Australia, and New
Zealand since 1990. In each event, Laurie presents a straightforward Gospel
message in a culturally relevant format, drawing on current events,
contemporary Christian music, Extreme sports, and Internet technology.
Laurie, who serves on the board of the Billy Graham Evangelistic
Association, has written more than 20 books and hosts a national daily radio
program A New Beginning and a weekly television program, Harvest: Greg Laurie.
