HOLTSVILLE, N.Y., Aug. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Symbol Technologies,
Inc. (NYSE: SBL), The Enterprise Mobility Company(TM), today pledged
$250,000 in aid to the American Red Cross, America's Second Harvest and Mercy
Corps, to help with the Hurricane Katrina emergency humanitarian relief effort
in the U.S. Gulf Coast region.

In addition, the Company will also match employee donations up to
$250,000 and donate equipment (the MC50) to provide wireless data and voice
communications as well as image capture. These devices will be used in part
by relief workers for communications. The Symbol MC50 Enterprise Digital
Assistant (EDA) is a small, lightweight mobile handheld computer featuring
data capture options, voice and data communication, and easy wireless local
areas network (WLAN) synchronization. With an enhanced PDA-style form factor,
the MC50 EDA handheld includes support for email, phone, data management and
various other mission-critical applications.
