HOUSTON, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Eagle USA Airfreight, Inc.
(Nasdaq: EUSA), has been named the recipient of the prestigious Microsoft
Visual FoxPro Excellence Award for Best Client-Server Solution in recognition
of its TALON (Transportation and Logistics Online Network) business
application. The company also received Finalists' awards in the Best Web Site
Solution category for two additional software programs, E@GLE ADVISOR and
E@GLE TRANSCOMM. All three software programs, developed by Eagle's MIS
Department, were honored at the tenth annual Developer's Conference, sponsored
by Microsoft.
"The Excellence Awards were designed to recognize the unique talents of
the software-developer community," stated Robert Green, Microsoft Product
Manager. "The finalists were chosen for their outstanding achievements in
developing database solutions with Microsoft's Visual FoxPro Suite of
programs, as well as the business benefits those applications provide."
TALON was originally conceived and designed specifically for the order
entry, document production, tracking/tracing and financial accounting of
international freight forwarding. The program's unique client/server
architecture allows for multiple countries to run their own Windows 95/98/2000
workstations with Windows NT servers. It also eliminates the need for
dedicated leased lines and enables the user to send shipment and accounting
data around the world utilizing the Internet as its connection.
"TALON brings a level of mobility and flexibility to our business that was
previously unrealized," said Dan DiGregorio, Senior Vice President of MIS.
"Recognition of the product by Microsoft validates the paths we have taken in
its design and development. TALON will become a fully integrated logistical
business solution with the completion of additional components such as ocean
export/import, brokerage and warehousing services."
The E@GLE ADVISOR and E@GLE TRANSCOMM software products together received
a finalist award by Microsoft in the Best Web Site Solution category. These
programs were designed to empower customers and foreign agents with shipment
information within minutes anywhere in the world. "The applications work in
such a fashion that conducting business with Eagle becomes truly streamlined
by enhancing the efficiency of our customers' operations, as well as our own,"
explained Bob Towle, Director of MIS.
"Our three software applications represent Eagle's commitment to
streamline operations and reduce costs through technology, while satisfying
the demands of our customers," said John McVaney, Executive Vice President of
Domestic Operations. "We are continuing our aggressive development of systems
which will provide us the platform necessary to extend complete systems
integration to our customers and partners around the world."
Eagle USA Airfreight's dedication to providing superior flexibility and
fewer shipping restrictions on a price competitive basis has made it a leading

services. Its company-owned network of 78 terminals features state-of-the-art
information systems designed to maximize cargo management efficiency and
customer satisfaction. The Company's shares are traded on the NASDAQ National
