NEW YORK, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2004 Republican National Convention
announced that three families who have benefited from the President's tax
relief will be featured during this evening's session, which will pay tribute
to the opportunities available in this great land. Senator Zell Miller (D-
GA), the convention's keynote speaker will discuss the land of opportunity
created by President Bush's pro-growth, pro-American worker, pro-American
entrepreneur agenda. Also tonight, Vice President Dick Cheney will officially
accept his nomination to serve as Vice President, and will speak to the
Administration's record of reforming government to meet the challenges of the
21st century and the President's vision for spreading freedom around the world
to ensure our safety at home.
Greg and Lorie Foley are from Dubuque, Iowa and are parents to three
children. Greg is a salesman for Crescent Electric, an electrical
distribution company, and Lorie is a realtor. Greg was on active duty in the
military in the Middle East last year, spending four months in training and
six months in Egypt on a peace-time mission. Greg and Lorie plan to use their
tax savings to do some home improvements. Greg and Lorie will save
approximately $2,200 on their taxes in 2004. They will benefit from increase
child tax credit, marriage penalty relief, and the new ten percent tax
bracket. If Congress fails to make the tax relief permanent, their taxes will
go up $1,000 in 2005.
Christine and Mark Seeley are from Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Mark is
an athletic trainer at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, and Christine is a
stay-at-home mom. They are the proud parents of three. The Seeleys used the
$800 child tax check to repair their roof. Mark and Christine saved
approximately $2,200 in 2003 and will save a similar amount in 2004. They
benefit from the increased child tax credit and the new ten percent tax
bracket. If Congress fails to make the tax relief permanent, their taxes will
go up about $1,000 in 2005.
Audra and Brian van Haren from Grand Rapids, Michigan have three
daughters. Audra is a stay-at-home mom and Brian has been a plumber for River
City Mechanical in Comstock Park, Michigan since 1998. Prior to working for
River City Mechanical, Brian served in the Navy on the Theodore Roosevelt
aircraft carrier as a search and rescue swimmer and a Boatswain's Mate 2nd
Class. The van Harens saved approximately $2,500 in the 2003 tax year and
will save $2,500 in the 2004 tax year. They benefit from the increased child
tax credit, the new ten percent tax bracket, marriage penalty relief, and the
low-income savers tax credit. If Congress fails to make the tax relief
permanent, the van Harens' tax burden will increase by approximately $1,100 in
the 2005 tax year.

tonight's convention program.
