J.J. Abrams's "Fringe" and Seth McFarlane's "The Cleveland Show" Favored by
TV.com's Active Online Community
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- TV.com, a leading content and
community site for TV fans, today announced the winners of its annual Most
Anticipated New Shows polls. After polling thousands of TV.com community
members, Fox's "Fringe" was chosen as the most anticipated new drama, while
Fox's "The Cleveland Show," was voted the most anticipated new comedy.
"While the critics may have their favorite new shows for the season,
the most anticipated poll is a clear indication of what the fans are
excited about," said Erin Geiger, site director of TV.com. "Our active
community members base their votes on months of information exchanging and
opinion sharing on TV.com. This online buzz building is an exciting
phenomenon that allows us to monitor trends and forecast hits."
J.J. Abram's latest project, "Fringe" revolves around a mysterious
rapidly spreading and threatening phenomenon that two FBI agents (played by
Dawson's Creek star, Joshua Jackson and Anna Torv from "The Secret Life of
Us") are trying to stop from spreading. In their search for answers, they
enlist the help of one the FBI agent's estranged father, a famous, but now
institutionalized scientist.
"That's the greatest thing ever," said JJ Abrams at the Fringe premiere
party. "I've got to tell you something, the only reason we do the show is
for the fans of TV. To hear that anyone is looking forward to it warms the
heart. Because you're in that vacuum of trying to make it, and make
something people like, and to have anyone say that they're interested is
very exciting. I'm very grateful."
Seth McFarlane continues his FOX animated comedy domination with a
spin-off of the much-loved series "Family Guy." "The Cleveland Show"
features the adventures of Peter Griffin's neighbor Cleveland Brown.
Cleveland, along with Cleveland Junior, move to Virginia to start a new
life with Cleveland's old high school sweetheart, Donna and her two
children.
Additionally, TV.com brought back the very popular Premiere Plots
feature to give TV viewers plot summaries from their favorite shows such as
"Heroes," "Grey's Anatomy," "Gossip Girl," and many more. The polls and
Premiere Plots are part of TV.com's extensive feature around the upcoming
fall TV season, which includes a comprehensive program calendar, online
live chats during premieres, returning in-depth show summaries, episode
guides, videos, downloads, news updates, actor bios, and cast photos,
