John Alstrom Joins Pacific Gulf Properties as Director of Senior Acquisitions

    NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Pacific Gulf Properties
Inc. (NYSE: PAG) announced today that John K. Alstrom has joined the company
as director of senior acquisitions.  Mr. Alstrom will assume responsibility of
all acquisitions for Pacific Gulf's growing portfolio of rental communities
for active seniors age 55 and older.  This will include identifying land
parcels for development of new seniors communities, along with locating
existing properties which fit the company's criteria for this segment of its
portfolio.

needed to more intently focus on the expansion of our active seniors
portfolio," said Glenn L. Carpenter, chairman of the board and chief executive
officer.  "Not only will the company continue to acquire, operate and develop
our portfolio of industrial business parks and distribution facilities, but
with the addition of Mr. Alstrom to the company's management team, Pacific
Gulf is in a position to achieve its strategic plan to increase its holdings
in the area of active senior living," added Carpenter.
    Mr. Alstrom has more than 25 years of experience in all aspects of real
estate including acquisition, development, management and marketing, and has
had responsibility for more than 11 million square feet of commercial projects
throughout California in the various capacities listed above.
    Most recently, Mr. Alstrom was director of commercial development for The
Allen Group, a real estate development and investment firm headquartered in
San Diego; Mr. Alstrom was based in its regional office located in Visalia,
Calif.  Over the course of his career, Mr. Alstrom has also held executive
positions with Diversified Developers Group and Pearson Realty, both of
Fresno, Calif.; Charles Dunn Co., Los Angeles; Hillman Properties West, Inc.
and The Irvine Company, both of Newport Beach, Calif.; and John D. Lusk & Son,
Irvine, Calif.
    Mr. Alstrom received a bachelor's degree in business management from
Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.  He is also a member of the Urban
Land Institute.
