Powell Goldstein Ranked 2nd in the Nation for Overall Diversity by the Vault Guide to Top 100 Law Firms

ATLANTA, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Powell Goldstein LLP announced today that
it was ranked 2nd nationally in Best Law Firms for Diversity by the Vault
Guide of the Top 100 Law Firms. In other ratings, the Firm was 2nd in the
country for diversity for women, 1st in the country in diversity for
minorities and 7th in the country for diversity for gays and lesbians.
"Our commitment to diversity is articulated as one of our Firm's core
values. We have placed a strong emphasis on recruiting and retaining female
lawyers as well as those of different ethnic and racial backgrounds and we are
pleased with our continued progress to date," reported Aasia Mustakeem, Chair
of the Firm's Diversity Committee and an African-American, female partner.
"Our rise in the rankings in this survey demonstrate our continuing success."
The Firm supports many diversity causes and has worked with the US Law
Firm Group, a networking group of 19 national law firms, to increase the
diversity in law schools to encourage a diverse population to enter the

In addition, the Firm is a sponsor of the annual Human Rights Campaign dinner

every level of the Firm. While we have done well in both respects, we realize
that we can and will improve and that retention is a continuing challenge in
the legal industry, but is one which we intend to meet."
