MELROSE PARK, Ill., Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Committed to ensuring voices
are heard in the communities it serves, Jewel-Osco, the leading Chicago food
and drug combination retailer, is spearheading a drive to register voters for
the upcoming November general election.
Jewel-Osco, Chicago Board of Elections Commissioners, Office of the Cook
County Clerk, and Chicago Rainbow PUSH Coalition are working through the
Oct. 3 voter registration deadline to guarantee persons eligible to cast
ballots in the Nov. 3 elections can do so by registering to vote at
Chicagoland Jewel-Osco Stores.
Voter registration drives at participating Jewel-Osco locations are non-
partisan, with deputy registrars assigned to assist in registration efforts.
To register for the Nov. 3 general election, a valid photo identification and
proof of address is needed.
Jewel-Osco chief executive officer, Greg Josefowicz, said the Melrose Park
based retailer is pleased to be working with the Chicago Board of Elections
Commissioners, Office of the Cook County Clerk, and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition
to register voters at stores.

In conjunction with the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners, all
Jewel-Osco Stores and free-standing Osco Drug locations in the City of Chicago
will host voter registration sites in the City of Chicago, from 11 a.m. to 5
p.m., Oct. 3.
Chicago Board of Elections Commissioners community services director,
Constance Kaplan, said she is looking forward to working with Jewel-Osco to
register voters, and thanked the prominent Chicagoland retailer for their
cooperation.
In conjunction with the Cook County Clerk's office, 56 Jewel-Osco
locations in suburban Cook County will also host voter registration drives
from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 3.
Representatives from the Rainbow PUSH Coalition will register eligible
voters at selected Jewel-Osco Stores each Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.
until 2 p.m., now through Sept. 26. The final three days of voter
registration will be Oct. 1, 2, and 3 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Jewel-Osco contributes $1 million annually to support charitable and
community organizations focusing in three main areas: food and nutrition,
health, and education. For almost 100-years Jewel-Osco has demonstrated its
commitment to the communities it serves through charitable contributions and
community outreach programs such as neighborhood festivals and health fairs.
Jewel-Osco operates 186 stores in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
Of those, 156 are in combination with Osco Drug. Jewel also operates
79 stand-alone Osco Drug Stores in Chicagoland and the Milwaukee area. The
