ECL Validates TriMedia's SDE Through Its First Impressions Rating Service

MILPITAS, Calif., Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- TriMedia Technologies Inc., a
leading developer of media processor intellectual property (IP) and
sophisticated software tools and applications for advanced digital consumer
products, today announced its results from the EEMBC Certification Labs (ECL)
First Impressions Rating Service for its software development environment
(SDE) 2.2 tools. ECL's First Impressions service evaluated the SDE 2.2 tools
for quality, documentation, support and use according to a uniform set of
criteria. It met and exceeded expectations with each test and proved to be a
reliable and powerful environment. In addition to the SDE ranking, TriMedia's
32-bit media processor recently scored three times higher than any other entry
in the EEMBC ConsumerMark(TM) benchmark in silicon.

Today, design cycles are shrinking, and organizations need to get their
products to market as quickly as possible. First Impressions scores combined
with the high marks from the ConsumerMark for its media processor, means
end-users can be assured that TriMedia solutions can stand-up to real-world
production-level quality requirements. ECL's main objective is to ensure that
it delivers credible information about a manufacturer's tools and processors.
First Impressions test results enable manufacturers and third party software
developers to identify bugs and other areas for improvement early in the
design cycle.
"The TriMedia SDE 2.2 is a professional-grade product that compares very
well with competitive toolchains, and shows attention to details that real
developers care about," said Alan Weiss, ECL Chairman and CEO. "A clear
advantage lies with TriMedia's integrated profiling system, which is
astonishingly easy to use, effective and results in better performance for the
applications. In fact, it only took our novice engineer 15 minutes to install
the product, build and run the first program."
"With time-to-market such a critical issue, we need to assure our
customers that our tools are proven and tested out of the box," said Randy
Smith, Vice President of Marketing and Sales of TriMedia. "Because of our
architectural approach to the media processor and the SDE, ECL has found that
our products are one of the easiest and fastest solutions to use in the
industry. With the ECL Tested! Seal of Approval, our SDE 2.2 has now been
validated by a reputable and independent third-party."
ECL tested the SDE 2.2 and its related tools from a complete Software
Development Kit (SDK) package supplied from Momentum Data Systems (MDS), an
established provider of DSP training, system and design services. MDS Vice
President of Marketing Chris Bore said that First Impressions testing
complements the work of MDS ( http://www.mds.com ) and TriMedia. He stressed
that both companies are delivering development tools, support and training
packages that customers need to get their designs up and running as quickly
and efficiently as possible.
TriMedia's SDE 2.2 is an integral part of the company's portfolio. This
version of the SDE has been in production for over five years and consists of
an ANSI-compliant C/C++ compilation system, which makes it easy for
programmers to develop applications using TriMedia processors. The SDE is also
available for common development platforms including PC and Unix workstations.
Together, with the SDE and media processor cores, these solutions allow the
creation of sophisticated multimedia products for the home consumer
electronics markets.
