(NYSE: ELY) announced today that Michael J. Rider has been promoted to the
position of Senior Vice President, Assistant General Counsel. Mr. Rider has
been with the Company since 1996, and most recently served as Vice President,
Associate General Counsel.

Prior to joining Callaway Golf, Mr. Rider, age 44, had been a Senior
Attorney for American Airlines for four years. Before that he had practiced
law with the firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher for eight years following his
graduation from the University of San Diego School of Law (magna cum laude) in
1983.
