Black Enterprise/Pepsi Golf & Tennis Challenge Participants Take Hurricane Frances in Stride

MIAMI, Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- BLACK ENTERPRISE magazine, along with title
sponsor Pepsi, originally planned to host over 1,300 African American business
executives and entrepreneurs at Miami's Doral Golf Resort & Spa from September
2-6. The Black Enterprise/Pepsi Golf & Tennis Challenge, Florida-based for
ten years, has become synonymous with the Labor Day holiday for many African
Americans. Over 700 guests from across the country arrived to attend the
event prior to Hurricane Frances becoming a threat. When the storm watch was
issued, event and hotel staff went into overdrive in order to protect the
safety of those participants who had already arrived.
"The Black Enterprise/Pepsi Golf & Tennis Challenge is known nationally as
a gathering of some of the best business minds in the nation. Many of our
registrants came to the Challenge while Miami's skies were clear and
beautiful," says Johnny Graves, president of Black Enterprise Unlimited. "As
the storm began to threaten the Florida coast, our participants and corporate
sponsors have shown an amazing spirit as necessary precautions were
implemented. While the safety of the guests has been our priority, our
Challenge staff has also been working diligently to retain as much of the
unique blend of sporting events, entertainment, and business networking which
has made the Black Enterprise/Pepsi Golf & Tennis Challenge a staple of the
Labor Day weekend for African Americans."
While devastating effects of Hurricane Frances remain the major concern,
Challenge guests are taking it all in stride. "I came here to make new
friends and relax with my family," says Atlanta native Ray Robinson. "If the
lights go out, I will continue to do just that."

Sponsors of the Black Enterprise/Pepsi Golf & Tennis Challenge include: A
la Carte, Absolut, Accenture, Aetna, American Airlines, American Express,
