Joe Trippi to Speak on Rise of 'Citizen' Journalism and Social Networking --
Top Red Cross Comm. Exec on Katrina Crisis
NEW YORK, Sept. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The dramatic transformation of
traditional media and the emergence of non-traditional media channels will be
discussed at Impact '05, a day-long conference at New York University on
September 15.
Speakers will include NYTimes.com editor-in-chief Len Apcar, AOL's top
editor Lewis D'Vorkin, Yahoo! general manager Patrick Houston, AP's top
strategist James Kennedy, Salon's Joan Walsh and Technology Review's Jason
Pontin. Also participating will be USA Today's Kevin Maney and Ron Alsop of
the Wall Street Journal.
Political strategist Joe Trippi will explain how new social networking
software, podcasting and blogs are bypassing tradition media to galvanize
public attention. His keynote address is titled "Power to the People."
Scheduled to speak is Charles Connor, head of corporate communications for
The American Red Cross. Mr. Connor is to address the communications
challenges and successes stemming from the hurricane Katrina disaster.
Professor Paul Argenti of the Tuck School at Dartmouth, the nation's
preeminent academic on corporate reputation, will explain how this dynamic
environment is drastically changing the role of communications professionals.
The conference takes place Thursday, September 15, at the Kimmel Center on
the campus of New York University.
